Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute in Wesley Chapel, FL is hiring an Orthopedic Tech/Medical Assistant, Certified. This full-time role supports the Orthopedics department, assists with patient transport, and implements physician orders for casts and braces.

Required are a high school diploma or equivalent and current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification, plus completion of approved Medical Assistant training or equivalent work experience. Certifications listed are acceptable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.

Responsibilities

• Assists with transport of patients.
• Performs any variation of the job that is directly related to the function of an orthopedic technician.
• Maintains regular, punctual attendance according to Orlando Health policies and applicable laws.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
• Assists orthopedic surgeons as requested.
• Participates in QA/QI as assigned.
• Performs patient rounds, charting, charging, and routine equipment cleaning.

Job Summary: According to physician orders assembles and applies different types of casts and various braces.

Other Related Functions

• Assists the orthopedic surgeons requested.
• Participates in Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Indicator (QI) as assigned.
• Performs patient rounds, charting, charging, regular cleaning of equipment and in service education that is directly related to the orthopedic technician service.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.
