Job summary

Orlando Health is seeking an Orthopedic Tech/Medical Assistant, Certified, for the Wesley Chapel location. The role supports orthopedic surgeons with patient transport and various technician tasks, in a full-time schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Requirements include a high school diploma, current BLS certification, and completion of Medical Assistant training or equivalent work experience. Certification as CMA/CCMA or other listed credentials is encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 1 year of verifiable work as CMA in patient care).
• CCMA/CMA/CMAC/NCMA/NRCMA/NRCAMA or equivalent certification from approved bodies preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists with transport of patients.
• Performs duties related to orthopedic technician functions.
• Maintains regular attendance per Orlando Health policies and standards.
• Ensures compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Assists with transport of patients.
• Performs any variation of the job that is directly related to the function of an orthopedic technician.
• Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
• Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Other Related Functions

• Assists the orthopedic surgeons requested.
• Participates in Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Indicator (QI) as assigned.
• Performs patient rounds, charting, charging, regular cleaning of equipment and in service education that is directly related to the orthopedic technician service.

Qualifications

Education/Training

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Licensure/Certification

Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.

Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.
