University of Florida seeks a Veterinary Technician for Orthopedic Surgery to join a busy team providing patient care for cats and dogs requiring orthopedic intervention.

Technicians assist with procedures, sedation, anesthesia, radiography, CT, and client communication within a teaching environment guided by boarded surgeons and residents. Full-time CARE position with limited benefits including health insurance and paid time off.

Qualifications

• Veterinary Technician I: HS diploma or equivalent and 1 year relevant experience; coursework may substitute.
• Veterinary Technician II: Credentialed veterinary technician.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with appointments, small procedures under sedation and anesthesia in sterile/aseptic conditions.
• Perform diagnostic workups including digital radiography and CT.
• Communicate with clients and caregivers.
• Collaborate with boarded surgeons, residents/interns, and students in a fast-paced teaching environment.

Job Description:

Are you a skilled veterinary technician who loves both learning and sharing your knowledge and is ready to join a busy team seeing cats and dogs with a wide variety of issues requiring orthopedic intervention? We are looking for our next team members in Small Animal Surgery and currently are recruiting for an Orthopedic Surgery position! Nursing staff in our service assist with appointments, small procedures under sedation and anesthesia in both sterile and aseptic conditions, diagnostic workups including digital radiography and CT, and a host of other surgical nursing skills in addition to client communication. Members of our team work closely with boarded veterinary surgeons, residents/interns, and veterinary students in a fast paced teaching and learning environment. This is a full time position, working Monday-Friday.

Non-Credentialed $18.00-22.00

Credentialed $20.00-25.00

This is a CARE position offering limited benefits, including health insurance and paid time off. When appropriate certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to a level II title may be available. This position will also become eligible for transition into a TEAMS (staff) salary plan.
