Job summary

LeadingAge Virginia is seeking an experienced orthopedic surgeon to provide comprehensive orthopedic care and follow-up within the VA system. The role includes performing surgeries, managing clinics, and educating residents and students in an academic setting.

The position requires an MD, full US medical licensure, and an approved orthopedic residency. Board certification is preferred, and EDRP eligibility applies for loan repayment.

Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine degree or equivalent in allopathic or osteopathic medicine.
• Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
• Residency in orthopedics approved by ACGME/AOA or equivalent.
• Board certification preferred; may be required for faculty status.
• Knowledge of VA policies and EDRP eligibility.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive orthopedic care and follow-up for patients.
• Perform orthopedic surgery in the operating room and minor surgery settings.
• Conduct weekly outpatient and inpatient clinics.
• Educate physicians, staff, residents and students in orthopedic services and surgery.
• Document services with appropriate notes (History/Physical, Progress notes, Operative notes).
• Participate in clinical research protocols and multi-center studies as applicable.
• Coordinate on-call coverage with other VA staff orthopedists.
• Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am–3:30pm, with possible on-call.
