The RN uses the nursing process and collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, age-appropriate care. The role emphasizes patient education, safe clinical practices, and positive outcomes through a structured care delivery approach.

Qualifications

• Postsecondary nursing diploma or program graduate with RN licensure.
• Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
• BCLS/ACLS certifications within required timeframe.
• Experience in orthopedic or inpatient surgical nursing.
• Proficiency with electronic health records and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients, develop plans, and evaluate outcomes.
• Administer medications per physician orders and standards.
• Care for adolescent to geriatric patients with orthopedic conditions.
• Coordinate with physicians, therapists, and staff for comprehensive care.
• Participate in discharge planning and patient/family education.
• Document care accurately in the medical record.
• Recognize and respond to changes in patient condition.
• Mentor and train new staff and students.
