Prime Healthcare is seeking an Orthopedic Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical RN) on the 7th floor Tower at Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, AL. The role supports patients with musculoskeletal conditions, injuries, or post-surgical recovery, providing comprehensive assessments, care plans, and education.

The position requires an active state RN license and BLS, with ACLS and BSN valued. Full-time, dayshift, with a $4-$8 shift differential and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN license is required.
• Current BLS certification at hire and maintain current.
• ACLS certification is preferred but not required.
• Ventilator management experience is a plus.
• BSN degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients.
• Monitor vital signs, intake/output, and clinical indicators.
• Recognize signs of deterioration and respond promptly.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor for adverse effects.
• Serve as liaison between patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Educate patients on condition, treatment options, and recovery plan.
• Collaborate with doctors, therapists, and social workers to tailor care plans.

We are seeking an Orthopedic Registered Nurse, internally referred to as our Medical Surgical RN, on the 7th floor Tower at Riverview Regional Medical Center (Gadsden, AL), a member of Prime Healthcare. An orthopedic registered nurse (RN) isa registered nurse who specializes in the care of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.They work with patients who have experienced injuries, undergone orthopedic surgery, or have long-term musculoskeletal conditions.Their duties include patient assessment, pain management, wound care, and education about the recovery process.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health
• monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
• recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status
• safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
• act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met
• provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
• Ventilator Management experience preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
