Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a physician specializing in Orthopedic Surgery to provide comprehensive surgical and clinical services within the Orthopedics Section of the Department of Surgery.

The role includes resident supervision, adherence to VA policies, and participation in research, with a focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The candidate must meet extensive credentialing requirements, possess an unrestricted medical license, and be prepared for an on-going

Qualifications

  • US citizenship as required by VA employment policies
  • MD degree from an approved medical school
  • Current full and unrestricted medical license in the US
  • Completion of an accredited Orthopedic Surgery residency program
  • Board certification or eligibility for VA faculty status as applicable
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive Orthopedic care and follow-up for patients
  • Perform pre-operative and post-operative orthopedic services including hospital rounds
  • Conduct orthopedic surgery in the operating room and minor surgery suite
  • Lead weekly outpatient and inpatient clinics
  • Provide non-operative orthopedic hospital rounds
  • Document care with History and Physical, progress notes, operative and discharge summaries
  • Educate physicians, staff, residents and students in orthopedic principles and therapies
  • Participate in clinical research protocols and multi-center studies
  • Assist residents and students in preparing abstracts for presentation
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure proper functioning of the Orthopedic Section
  • Work schedule: Monday–Friday 7:00am–3:30pm with potential on-call coverage
