Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center is a teaching hospital that provides a full range of services, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. We provide professional training in most major medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. As a Staff Orthopedic Surgeon, you will be charged with delivering the best possible orthopedic care to our Veteran patients. Research interest is encouraged, but not required. Dedicated time may be set aside for research for qualified applicants. Teaching is an integral part of our mission. An academic appointment with our affiliates is possible.

Duties will include, but are not limited to:

• Surgical procedures, with required expertise in all areas of Orthopedics including: arthritis disorders, degenerative arthritis of the shoulder and knee, injuries and metastatic lesions of the musculoskeletal system, knee injuries, shoulder injuries, hip injuries, foot and ankle injuries, shoulder surgery, hand surgery, arthroscopic knee surgery, total knee replacement, total hip replacement, and other general orthopedic surgeries and joint procedures performed by general or specialty orthopedic surgeons.
• Supervision/teaching of surgical residents.
• Providing consultation in an outpatient clinic setting and on inpatient wards.
• Participation in Medical Center committees.
• Other duties as assigned by the Chief of Surgery or Chief of Staff.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm, on-call coverage for weeknights/weekends shared by group, handled by phone with on-site rounds as needed.

Pay: Competitive salary (300K-400K) annually, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification)

Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting

Candidates must be: 1) US Citizen or PRA, 2) Trained in Orthopedic Surgery and 3) Have a full, unrestricted medical license in any State. Preferred experience: Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
