Job summary

OrthoVirginia is seeking a detail-oriented Operatory Surgical Coding Specialist to ensure accurate posting of surgical cases, proper billing of supplies and implants, and correct CPT/HCPCS coding in collaboration with surgeons and staff. The role supports compliance and optimized reimbursement across multiple locations.

Candidate should have credentials (CPC/CCS-P/CRC), experience in a surgical setting, and strong analytical skills to maintain precise documentation in the EHR and inventory

Qualifications

• Experience in a surgical environment (ASC, hospital OR, or office-based operatory).
• Strong understanding of CPT/HCPCS coding and surgical documentation requirements.
• Experience with surgical charge capture, revenue integrity, or reimbursement optimization.
• Experience with implant tracking and bill-only workflows.

Responsibilities

• Post surgical cases with CPT/HCPCS coding and modifiers accurately.
• Review operative documentation for coding completeness and accuracy.
• Collaborate with surgeons to validate procedures and billing requirements.
• Identify and resolve coding discrepancies prior to claim submission.
• Reconcile supplies and implants for accurate charge capture.
• Audit cases to improve reimbursement and ensure compliance.
