Job summary

NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island in Patchogue is seeking a Medical Assistant for the Orthopedics team to support physicians and nurses in patient care. You will perform patient care tasks with emphasis on compassionate service during hospitalization and diagnostic procedures.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient flow, taking vital signs and EKGs, preparing exam rooms, and supporting procedures while maintaining chart accuracy and safety standards within a busy orthopedic setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; MA program or 2 years MA experience.
• Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Preferred: BLS certification, MA certification, EPIC Ambulatory knowledge, medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists with maintaining patient flow to and from exam rooms and treatment areas; escorts patients.
• Obtain vital signs, weights, and EKGs; assist with phlebotomy; ensure chart is available for physician.
• Assist with procedures (e.g., GI procedures, exams).
• Clean and sterilize equipment; schedule treatments; assist with prescription renewals.
• Stock exam/treatment rooms with medical supplies and chart forms.
• Assist with training of new Medical Assistants; may perform administrative responsibilities.
