Job summary

Central Indiana Orthopedics (CIO) is seeking a Primary Clinical Specialist to support Dr. Lawless. You’ll welcome patients, collect histories, record vitals, and assist with procedures in the clinic, following established standards and accuracy in EMR documentation.

You'll help with pre/post-operative care education, perform ancillary tasks, and coordinate with physicians and staff to ensure smooth patient flow. CPR and First Aid are required, CMA/ATC/LPN/RN licensure as applicable.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited program in nursing (associate or bachelor’s degree), medical assisting (associate’s degree) or athletic training (bachelor’s degree) required.
• One to two years’ professional experience in a clinical setting preferred.
• Must have CMA certification, ATC license, LPN license, or RN license. Must maintain CPR and Emergency First Aid certifications.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and assist with patient examinations and minor procedures.
• Record patient histories, vital signs, and chief complaints in the EMR.
• Apply orthopedic devices under provider supervision.
• Educate patients on preoperative and postoperative care and medications.
• Assist with in-office imaging coordination (X-rays, MRIs) and follow-up.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam rooms and clinical areas.
• Perform administrative duties: scheduling, phones, patient records.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and OSHA regulations.
• Support surgical scheduling and pre-operative prep.

Education

Nursing degree or Medical Assisting degree or Athletic Training degree
