Job summary

OrthoNY in Albany, NY is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic team. This role fuses administrative tasks with hands-on clinical support, including patient registration, rooming, data collection, and checkout under provider supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (medical assisting certification preferred) and 1–3 years of medical setting experience. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm, with a salary range of $19–$26 per hour.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients promptly and professionally.
• Assisting patients with registration and collecting required information.

• Reporting information to the provider and assisting in patient care as requested.
• Performing scribe duties as needed and reviewing treatment procedures with patients.
• Assisting in ordering tests and retrieving results.
• Collecting patient payments and scheduling follow-ups; balancing daily journal.

General Description:

This Medical Assistant position provides both administrative and clinical support in patient registration, rooming, demographic and medical data collection as well as patient checkout including appointments, discharge information and payment under the supervision of a provider.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greeting patients promptly and professionally;
• Assisting patients with the registration process including but not limited to assistance with collecting required patient information, medical history, relevant documents, and electronic signatures;
• Preparing the patient for the exam by performing preliminary tests, as needed;
• Reporting relevant information to the provider;
• Assisting the provider with patient care as requested;
• Performing scribe duties, as needed;
• Reviewing treatment procedures with patients;
• Assisting in ordering tests/retrieving results;
• Bracing & brace measurements under the supervision of a licensed professional;
• Collecting any patient payments and scheduling follow up appointments, if required;
• Balancing and closing a journal each day, when applicable;
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality and complies with HIPAA standards;
• Other responsibilities as needed
