Job summary

Connecticut Orthopaedics is hiring an Insurance Collector I to monitor accounts for timely payment and follow up on denials. You will collaborate with the Billing Team and Collections Supervisor to resolve issues and improve claim resolution.

On-site in Wallingford, CT, hours are Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, with a starting hourly rate of $22-$30. Required: HS diploma/GED and at least 2 years in medical insurance collections; orthopedic collections experience; CPT/modifier and ICD coding knowledge; EMR and

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or higher preferred.
• Two years of experience with medical insurance collections.
• Orthopaedic collections experience is required.
• Experience with CPT/modifiers and ICD-9/ICD-10 codes is preferred.
• Experience with insurance websites such as Availity and knowledge of MS 365 is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and resolve EDI dashboard for claim kick-out edits.
• Manage A/R through system module and reports.
• Process simple denials, resubmit, appeal and follow-up on unpaid/incorrectly processed claims.
• Work with Coding department to resolve claim rejections and appeals.
• Answer incoming insurance-specific inquiries.
• Process basic insurance follow-up on claims.
• Communicate with insurance carriers for claim status and collect on accounts.
• Assist with process improvement to bring about greater claims resolution.
