Job summary

OrthoNebraska is seeking an Extended Recovery RN to provide high-quality patient-centered care for post-operative orthopedic patients needing extended recovery or overnight care. You will monitor patient conditions, manage pain, prevent complications, and prepare patients for discharge home.

This role requires collaboration with surgeons, anesthesiologists, hospitalists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize outcomes and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age /weight of the patients served.
• Performs technical skills competently and independently to assure patient safety.
• In-depth knowledge of surgical operation procedures; highly skilled at assessing patients prior to surgery and providing perioperative care.

Responsibilities

• Performs an initial and ongoing assessment to determine the patient’s nursing care needs.
• Develops, reviews, revises and individualizes the plan of care for optimum outcomes.
• Implements interventions safely according to the plan of care.
• Evaluates patient response to care and interventions to optimize outcomes.
• Maintains professional behavior to support the organization’s mission.
• Initiates actions to correct and prevent risks to patient safety.
• Complies with safety policies and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in performance improvement activities.
