Job summary

AdventHealth is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to support Rothman Orthopedic in Winter Garden, FL. The role involves front-to-back patient care, including intake, testing, documentation, and coordinating with a multi-site orthopedic network.

The position requires BLS and CMA certification, strong medical knowledge, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Day shifts in a full-time clinic with potential travel to other Rothman offices.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of health care field and medical terminology.
• Knowledge of chronic disease management.
• Knowledge of and ability to utilize internal and external resources.
• Expertise in patient advocacy and navigating complex systems.
• Ability to function in stressful, fast-paced environments.
• Ability to communicate by English effectively.
• Experience with computers required.
• 1+ year of related work experience (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Travels as needed to fulfill staffing needs and support clinic operations.
• Maintains education requirements for the position and demonstrates competency through annual clinical competencies and written tests.
• Prepares patients and equipment for treatment, initiates testing, and documents results in the practice’s designated system.
• Provides whole care to patients during office visits, including intake, test results, screenings, labs, medication administration, and closure of care gaps.
• Maintains confidentiality of employees' and patients' administrative and medical information.
• Supports staff teamwork by assisting patients, visitors, and co-workers when necessary.
• Performs clinical intake according to policy and procedures, including screenings, history taking, vital signs, and medication reconciliation.
• Assists with minor procedures and ensures accurate documentation at the time of service or results.
• Educates patients regarding tests, medications, and diet, providing clear and accurate instructions.
• Monitors and manages inventory, ensuring adequate supplies and functioning medical equipment.
