Job summary

UPMC is offering an Orthopaedic Residency Program designed to advance practicing physical therapists through advanced examination, clinical decision-making, and manual therapy training. The 16-month program emphasizes evidence-based practice and spans two outpatient clinics: the Freddie Fu Center for Sports Medicine and the Lemieux Sports Medicine Center.

Qualifications

Licensed PT in good standing
Experience with pediatrics and adults
Ability to supervise PT assistants
Familiarity with evidence-based practice

Responsibilities

Performs physical therapy assessment, reassessment and treatment and supervises PTAs in pediatric to geriatric patients referred by a physician
Develops plan of care including goals and treatment plan based on referral, injury and assessment results
Modifies or adjusts plan of care based on patient response and status changes
Maintains written documentation for all PT services including initial assessment, follow-ups and discharge summaries
Co-signs PTA documentation biweekly
Provides home instructions to patient/family as applicable
Communicates patient status to referring physician and health care team
Schedules patients to meet productivity standards while delivering quality care
