Job summary

UPMC Rooney Sports Complex in Pittsburgh, PA is hiring a Medical Assistant to support multiple physicians in a fast-paced Orthopaedic practice that sees over 100 patients daily at 3200 S. Water Street.

Day shift, Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:30 PM. The role emphasizes patient care, front office coordination, chart management, and clinical support including phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic procedures under physician supervision.

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred.
• Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
• Ability to schedule and coordinate patient appointments.

Responsibilities

• Send/receive patient records in accordance with HIPAA and regulations.
• Obtain lab/x-ray reports and hospital notes; schedule appointments; verify insurance and demographics; prepare and manage charts.
• Prepare patient rooms and maintain infection control; manage supplies and patient flow.
• Take vitals and assist with examinations per provider guidelines; relay instructions to patients.
• Answer calls and provide patient education as directed.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and basic labs; assist physicians with procedures; document information.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health; maintain confidentiality and follow policies.
• Under physician supervision, administer injectable medications and vaccines when appropriate.
