Job summary

UT Medical Center's Orthopaedic Surgery Team is seeking a Full-Time Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support specialized orthopaedic procedures at the region’s only academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center.

You will work closely with orthopaedic surgeons, nurses and perioperative staff to maintain sterile fields, prepare instruments, and ensure safe, efficient patient care in a busy operating room.

Qualifications

• Current CST certification or TS-C certification.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Knowledge of sterile technique, surgical instrumentation, infection prevention, and operating room practices.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient and surgical safety.
• Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment for orthopaedic procedures.
• Assist surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures.
• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures and manage instruments and supplies.
• Anticipate surgeon needs and provide instruments and equipment as required.
• Perform surgical counts and ensure accuracy of instruments and supplies.
• Inspect instruments and equipment for proper function and address deficiencies.
• Support efficient operating room workflow and case turnover.
• Uphold infection prevention and patient-safety standards.
