Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required; must become certified within 180 days.
• Current CPR certification by AHA or Red Cross required.
• Maintain MA and CPR certification during employment.
• Additional education may substitute for experience per JHU policy.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient information at intake.
• Records vital signs in EPIC and documents abnormal findings for provider review.
• Prepares patients for examination and assists transfers with proper body mechanics.
• Assists with procedures and examinations under clinical supervision.
• Maintains aseptic technique and infection control during duties.
• Manages exam room supplies and clinic area organization for patient flow.
• Provides patient education materials and references community resources as directed.
• Occasional coverage at other JHU Orthopaedic/PMR/MSK clinics and after-hours shifts.
