Job summary

WVU Medicine in Morgantown is seeking a cast technician to cast, splint, and apply durable medical equipment as ordered by Orthopaedics staff. You will assess fractures, determine methods, and deliver direct patient care under physician direction.

Responsibilities include obtaining vitals, supporting staff, and assisting with tests, procedures, and documentation in a busy outpatient unit. Prior nursing assistant experience is preferred and BLS is required within 30 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
• State criminal background check and Federal checks as required.
• Cast tech training completed per department requirements.
• Nursing Assistant Training preferred.
• Two years of nursing assistant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Casts, splints, and applies durable medical equipment per staff orthopaedics orders.
• Delivers patient care as directed by physicians.
• Obtain and document vitals on patients.
• Support medical staff to ensure patient needs and outpatient unit efficiency.
• Assist with requisitions/forms for patient examinations or testing.
• Administer prescribed medications under supervision and document results.
