Job summary

Puyallup Smiles Dentistry and Orthodontics is hiring a Dental Assistant to support clinicians and deliver the Perfect Patient Experience. You will assist with patient preparation, radiographs, and chair-side procedures across general dentistry and specialties.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, state certifications, and reliable transportation for intra-office travel. Excellent communication and a team-focused attitude are essential.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to high school diploma or GED with required state certification/licensure.
• Specialty dental assistants must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and travel between offices.
• Travel between offices may be planned or unplanned and requires reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Perform functions per the applicable state's Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
• Actively participate in PPE to maintain patient focus and comfort.
• Escort patients to/from the front desk and introduce them to team members as appropriate.
• Communicate with front and back office teams to ensure schedule efficiency.
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and cheerful environment; sterilize and disinfect instruments and operatory.
• Prepare patients for treatment and assist the dentist to deliver efficient care.
• At clinician direction, complete radiographs and intra-oral pictures quickly and accurately.
• Prepare tray setups and manage supplies in each operatory.
• Keep mouths dry and clear using suction or other devices; provide post-treatment care instructions.
