Job summary

Adventure Orthodontics in Idaho Falls is seeking an Orthodontic Technician to work chairside with our orthodontist, assisting during exams and procedures and helping patients feel comfortable.

No prior orthodontic experience is required; full training is provided. You will prepare treatment rooms, take photos and x-rays, and follow infection control and safety protocols.

This role offers a hands-on start in a friendly, team-oriented practice with opportunities to grow within the clinic.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • No orthodontic or dental assisting experience is necessary—training provided.
  • Comfortable working with patients of all ages, including children and teens.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
  • Friendly, patient-focused demeanor and clear communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts as scheduling needs arise.
  • Comfortable following infection control and clinical safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist chairside during exams and procedures.
  • Place and remove orthodontic bands, brackets, and archwires under supervision.
  • Take intraoral photos, x-rays, and digital scans/impressions.
  • Prepare rooms and sterilize equipment before and after appointments.
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene and appliance care.
  • Provide patients with orthodontic supplies and usage instructions.
  • Monitor patient comfort and report concerns to the orthodontist.
  • Maintain accurate notes and update patient charts after visits.
  • Follow infection control and OSHA safety protocols.
  • Assist with scheduling and inventory of clinical supplies.

Job description

The Orthodontic Technician works chairside with our orthodontist to provide direct patient care, including placing and adjusting braces and appliances, taking photos and x-rays, and helping patients feel comfortable and informed throughout treatment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the orthodontist chairside during exams, adjustments, and procedures
  • Place and remove orthodontic bands, brackets, and archwires under the orthodontist's direction
  • Take intraoral and facial photographs, x-rays, and digital scans/impressions of patients' teeth
  • Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize/set up instruments and equipment before and after appointments
  • Educate patients and parents on oral hygiene, appliance care, and at-home maintenance of braces or aligners
  • Provide patients with orthodontic supplies (wax, elastics, retainer cases) and instructions for use
  • Monitor patient comfort during procedures and communicate any concerns to the orthodontist
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and update patient charts following each visit
  • Follow all infection control, sterilization, and OSHA safety protocols
  • Assist with scheduling, inventory of clinical supplies, and other chairside support tasks as needed
