Job summary

J & J Staffing Resources is seeking a motivated Orthodontic Assistant to join our clinical team in a fast-paced orthodontic environment. The ideal candidate is confident in a clinical setting, works well with others, and is committed to delivering an exceptional patient experience.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years of orthodontic assisting, strong knowledge of orthodontic terminology and procedures, and excellent chairside skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of orthodontic assisting experience.
• Experience taking dental/orthodontic X-rays and diagnostic records.
• Knowledge of infection-control and sterilization procedures.
• Excellent chairside assisting and patient communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional, friendly, and positive attitude.
• Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Required certifications and credentials based on applicable state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist with patient examinations, consultations, and treatment procedures.
• Prepare patients and treatment rooms for scheduled appointments.
• Assist with placement and removal of brackets, wires, elastics, appliances, and other orthodontic materials.
• Take orthodontic photographs, X-rays, scans, impressions, and other diagnostic records as needed.
• Provide patients and parents with clear instructions regarding orthodontic treatment, oral hygiene, and appliance care.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
• Follow all OSHA, infection-control, sterilization, and office safety protocols.
• Sterilize instruments and maintain clean, organized treatment areas.
• Monitor and restock clinical supplies.
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients, parents, and team members.
• Help create a welcoming and positive patient experience.
• Work efficiently in a fast-paced orthodontic environment.
• Assist with additional clinical duties as directed by the orthodontist or lead assistant.
