Job summary

Main Street Children's Dentistry and Orthodontics of Orange City is seeking an Orthodontic Assistant in Orange City, FL to support our clinical team with high-quality patient care while working in a collaborative, team-based environment. This role requires completion of a dental assistant program or equivalent experience, X-ray certification, and a commitment to ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program.
• Six months on-the-job experience with supporting documentation.
• X-Ray certification.
• Nitrous Oxide certification is highly recommended.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Dental Assistants must maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA, CPR, and infection control training as required by law.

Responsibilities

• Clinical Support: Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and assist dentists during procedures.
• Patient Care: Welcome, comfort, and educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care.
• Radiography & Diagnostics: Take and develop X-rays, assist with impressions, and maintain study models.
• Compliance & Safety: Ensure infection control protocols, maintain patient confidentiality, and follow workplace regulations.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation, including scheduling and patient intake (if needed)
• Helps dentist manage dental and medical emergencies by maintaining CPR certification, emergency drug and oxygen supply, and emergency telephone directory.

Education

Completion of a one-year certified dental assistant program

X-Ray certification

Nitrous Oxide certification

High school diploma or equivalent
