Role Description

This part-time Orthodontic Assistant role is an on-site position based at MyFamily Orthodontics in Orlando, FL. The Orthodontic Assistant supports orthodontists during patient visits by preparing treatment areas, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. Daily tasks include setting up and breaking down operatories, handling orthodontic instruments and materials, and following proper sterilization and infection control protocols. The role also involves taking impressions or digital scans, placing and removing orthodontic appliances as directed, providing oral hygiene and appliance care instructions, and documenting treatment in patient records. The Orthodontic Assistant contributes to a welcoming, efficient environment by communicating clearly with patients, collaborating with the dental team, and helping maintain an organized schedule.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated skills in Dental Assisting and dental care support, including chairside assistance and patient preparation.
• Knowledge of Dentistry and Orthodontics, with experience in orthodontic procedures and appliances preferred.
• Ability to perform and maintain proper Sterilization and infection control practices in accordance with clinical standards.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and patient service skills, with a calm and professional demeanor.
• Attention to detail in charting, following clinical instructions, and handling instruments and materials.
• Current dental assistant certification or orthodontic assisting training; local/state licenses or registrations as required by Florida regulations.
• CPR certification and familiarity with basic emergency protocols in a dental setting.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, follow clinical workflows, and work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
