Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is hiring a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role focuses on providing the surgeon with proper instrumentation, maintaining a safe patient environment, and readiness for emergencies.

Preferred candidates will have a Surgical Technology program graduate, BLS-CPR certification, and prior OR experience. Sign-on bonus may apply; internal transfers within a year are ineligible.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Surgical Technology program.
• BLS - CPR certification.
• Ortho experience strongly preferred.
• Certified as a Surgical Technician preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and identifies equipment and supplies for all cases.
• Maintains aseptic technique throughout procedures.
• Sets up table, instruments and supplies per procedure and surgeon's preference cards.
• Assists in positioning and draping of the patient and with intraoperative care.
• Maintains counts of instruments, sponges, needles with RN and assists in circulating duties.
