Job summary

Baptist Health Brookwood Hospital in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to join the Ortho-Surgical Team on a 3x12s Day shift (6:45 AM to 7:15 PM) with every third weekend. The unit focuses on spine and orthopedic care, offering a fast-paced environment with opportunities to contribute to patient mobility and recovery.

You will document care, perform nursing responsibilities under RN supervision, and participate in care planning for a diverse patient population.

Qualifications

• Nursing School Graduate
• Current Alabama nursing license
• BLS healthcare provider certification
• No prior experience required

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates competency in advanced practical nursing skills and use of patient care/unit equipment as defined by unit specific requisite skills.
• Communicates appropriate information regarding the patient’s condition to the RN and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assists RN or provider during examinations and procedures.
• Documents patient data, and patient education according to Baptist Health and department specific guidelines
• Able to perform triage functions, including assessing the patient and determining next step in care, working in collaboration as directed by the department nursing team or provider(s).
• Appropriately administer oral and injectable medications or immunizations per LPN scope and as directed by a provider.
• Maintains a safe and caring environment for both patient and family.
• Assumes an active role in keeping informed about changes in hospital policy, procedure, and equipment.
