  • Every 3rd Weekend & Every 3rd Holiday

Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers comprehensive medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer treatment, women's health, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital features a 24-hour adult emergency department and a pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet hospital by the ANCC, recognizing nursing excellence and quality patient care. U.S. News & World Report ranked it #2 in the St. Louis metro area.

The Orthopedic/Neuro Spine and Acute Rehabilitation unit has 34 beds for patients undergoing joint replacements, back surgeries, and other orthopedic procedures, including a 10-bed Rehabilitation Unit that provides services bridging acute and long-term care. Care plans are tailored to patient lifestyle, function, and mobility, aiming to return patients to their home setting.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within nursing standards.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
  • Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
  • Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals, collaborating with the healthcare team, patients, and families, ensuring effective communication across care settings.
  • Uses critical nursing skills to assess physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient values, cultural, spiritual, and population-specific factors.
  • This position is safety-sensitive; the ability to work alertly and safely is essential.
