Overview

Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound, and pain management services. The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and a separate pediatric emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children's Hospital.

Missouri Baptist is the first and only hospital in St. Louis County to be named a Magnet® hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a distinction achieved by less than nine percent of hospitals nationwide. U.S. News & World Report ranked the hospital #2 in the St. Louis metro area.

Orthopedic/Neuro Spine and Acute Rehabilitation at Missouri Baptist features a 34-bed unit for joint replacements, back surgeries, and other orthopedic procedures, including a 10-bed Rehabilitation Unit that provides services between acute and long-term care. The team customizes care plans to help patients return to their home setting.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the standards of nursing care.

Responsibilities
  1. Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and families on managing their illness or injury, post-treatment home care, and medication administration.
  2. Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Engages in professional development.
  3. Develops, implements, and documents individualized care plans with clear goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, following established standards.
  4. Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, considering patient preferences, values, and cultural background.
  5. This is a safety-sensitive position; the ability to work alertly and safely is essential.
