Job summary

Position Highlights

Responsibilities

• Serve as First Assist in the operating room during orthopedic surgical procedures
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, histories, and physical exams
• Assist with pre-operative and post-operative patient management
• Participate in inpatient rounding on orthopedic surgical patients when needed
• Provide outpatient follow-up care for orthopedic patients
• Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests
• Perform procedures such as joint injections, splinting, casting, and wound care
• Collaborate with surgeons and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans
• Educate patients and families regarding procedures, recovery, and rehabilitation
• Document patient encounters accurately in the electronic medical record

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• Board Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA)
• Active state PA license or eligibility to obtain
• Orthopedic surgery experience REQUIRED
• Operating room First Assist experience REQUIRED
• Ability to work independently and efficiently in a surgical environment
• Strong clinical judgment and communication skills
