Job summary

Prisma Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide assistant surgical services in the operating room and other designated medical services under the direction of the surgeon. The role supports patient care through charting, documentation, and collaboration with the surgical team.

The candidate must hold NCCPA certification and current PA licensure in the state, with BLS required. This position includes involvement in program development and quality initiatives within Ortho-Patewood

Qualifications

• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in the state in which the team member is working.
• BLS certification is required.
• Prescriptive Authority and Federal DEA license (where applicable).

Responsibilities

• Provide general surgical assistant services in the operating room.
• Assist surgeon with prepping and until completion of procedure.
• Remove drains, tubes and catheters.
• Close incisions.
• Assist with patient office visits and on-call duties as assigned.
• Document care and billing through charting, summaries and required paperwork.
• Participate in physician educational programs related to capitated medicine and practice patterns.
• Participate in quality assurance and utilization management programs.
• Contribute to selection of management information systems.
• Develop patient education and satisfaction surveys.

Job Summary

Accountabilities

• Provides general surgical assistant services in operating room.10%
• Assists surgeon with prepping and until completion of procedure.15%

• Performs all charting, summaries, correspondence and required paperwork for purposes of documenting care and billing. 10%

Minimum Education

Physician Assistant Program or Program Certificate equivalent

Minimum Experience

1 year - Appropriate Clinical Experience

Required Certifications/Registrations/Licenses

• NCCPA certification and current Physician Assistant licensure in the state in which the team member is working.
• BLS

Specific Acceptable Credentials (if applicable)

• Prescriptive Authority for state in which team member is working
• Controlled Substance license for state in which team member is working; Federal DEA license

In Lieu Of The Above Minimum Requirements

Completion of Physician Assistant Surgical Residency Program or approved Surgical Physician Assistant graduate program
