Job summary

Northwestern Medicine’s Palos Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room (Ortho) in full-time daytime hours. A $10K sign-on bonus is noted, with a focus on age-specific care and evidence-based nursing practice.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, care planning, discharge planning, and collaboration with the health care team. ER and pediatric ER special requirements apply; internal candidates have priority for sign-on eligibility.

Qualifications

• BSN required to apply and function in the OR.
• IL RN license current.
• BLS certification required.
• Strong interpersonal skills expected.
• Ability to collaborate with the care team and patients.
• ADN acceptable if willing to pursue BSN within 3 years.
• Emergency ER/PC/Non-Invasive Cardiology special requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Assess and record patient status on admission or point of care.
• Organize health data for care planning and accessibility.
• Identify problems needing immediate attention.
• Document diagnoses and plan of care with the patient/family.
• Begin discharge planning early and coordinate with care teams.
• Provide patient education based on evidence-based practice.
• Communicate with patient/family and team about care progression.
• Coordinate referrals for continuity of care.
