OrthoVirginia is seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. You’ll work closely with physicians and clinical staff to prepare patients for visits, document medical histories, and support care throughout the orthopedic care journey.

Responsibilities

• Prepare exam rooms and ensure clinical areas are ready for patients and providers.
• Welcome and room patients, obtain vital signs, and document relevant medical history.
• Support physicians and clinical team members with patient care throughout the visit.
• Educate patients on orthopedic care, including cast care, traction care, and proper use of orthopedic appliances.
• Enter physician-directed orders for services such as X-rays and physical therapy.
• Coordinate follow-up appointments, post-operative visits, diagnostic studies, and other patient care needs.
• Assist with surgery scheduling, including coordinating pre-operative testing, therapy, and pre- and post-operative equipment.
• Help manage patient flow to support an efficient and positive experience for patients and providers.
• Respond to patient calls, triage questions and concerns, and ensure issues are addressed promptly.
• Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked exam, treatment, and bracing rooms.
• Follow safety procedures for handling and disposal of sharps and biohazardous materials.
• Partner with the broader clinical team to support an exceptional patient experience.
