Job summary

Sentara Leigh Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Patient Care Technician for the Ortho/Med Surg Unit 1 East. You will support patient mobility, deliver patient care under a nurse’s supervision, and assist with admissions and discharges in a 24-bed unit.

The role is full-time on the dayshift (about 6a–6p) with every 3rd weekend, in orthopedic and med/surg care. A High School Diploma is required; BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Qualifications

• One year of prior health care experience preferred.
• Provide patient care under supervision of a nurse and follow safety practices.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direct supervision of a professional nurse.
• Observe patients' conditions and report changes.
• Assist with admissions, discharge, and patient mobility as needed.
