Job summary

Familia Dental in Madison is seeking an Orthodontic Dental Assistant to support the dentist in delivering quality orthodontic care. On-the-job training is provided, so certification is not required to be hired for the Ortho DA position.

You will assist with records, sterilization, X-rays, and impressions, helping to advance treatment plans while upholding Familia Dental’s values of care and community service.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate records of patients' oral health histories and treatment progress.
  • Ensuring that all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use.
  • Keeping patients’ mouths dry during orthodontic procedures by using a suction hose as needed.
  • Taking intraoral X-rays of patients’ mouths.
  • Taking photographs of patients’ teeth to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress.
  • Taking dental molds of patients’ teeth for the fabrication of customized mouth guards and retainers.
  • Removing and replacing wires, coil springs, donuts, and elastic bands.
  • Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview

The Ortho Assistant performs many tasks requiring both interpersonal and technical skills. To effectively and efficiently assist the dentist in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental’s culture and mission and values.

Responsibilities/ Duties

Availability / Schedule

Working Hours between: M-F, 7:45 AM - 4PM and Saturdays 7:45AM - 4PM

Full Time Employment

  • Part time employment:
  • 2+ days a week, 29 hours or less per week
  • available to work Saturdays, when needed
