Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care in the ambulatory clinic environment. The CMA works under physician supervision and reports to the clinic manager, ensuring efficient patient flow and safe clinical operations.

Responsibilities include collecting intake information, recording vitals in EPIC, assisting in examinations, preparing procedures, maintaining infection control, and managing exam room inventories.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
• Certification/Registration as a Medical Assistant (e.g. CMA, AAMA, RMA, AMT, NAHP) required; if not certified, must become certified within 180 days.
• Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross required.

Responsibilities

• Collects patient information at intake.
• Records patients' vital signs in EPIC.
• Assist patients to exam room and prepare for examination.
• Assist practitioner in procedures and examinations.
• Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control.
• Manage and stock clinic supplies and exam rooms.
• Support casting and assist in offsite clinic locations as needed.
