Job summary

Candor Consulting & Diagnostics seeks an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to empower students with visual impairments to navigate safely and independently within their educational settings. You will develop IEPs/IFSPs with ARD input and teach cane techniques, spatial awareness, and the use of assistive tech.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, monitor progress with data-driven updates, and promote safety both at school and in the community while supporting post-secondary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Orientation and Mobility, Special Education, or related field.
• ACVREP certification required; Texas EC-12 preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of IDEA and ARD process; CPR certification preferred.
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and IFSPs with ARD team.
• Teach mobility and cane techniques, navigation, and use of assistive technology.
• Collect data, monitor progress, and adjust instructional strategies.
• Collaborate with teachers, related service providers, and families; participate in ARD meetings.
• Develop safety and independence plans for school, home, and community settings.
• Support student transition to post-secondary environments via community travel and transport training.
