Job summary

CSDB in Colorado Springs seeks an Orientation and Mobility Specialist to support preschool through transition students who are Blind/Low Vision or Deafblind. You will teach safe travel, body awareness, directions, and community navigation.

Responsibilities include goal setting, scheduling, collaboration with special educators, attending meetings, and maintaining records. Strong ASL or commitment to learning ASL is preferred; experience with assistive tech.

Qualifications

• Provide O&M instruction to Blind/Low Vision/Deafblind students.
• Develop individual goals and instructional activities.
• Maintain accurate student records and communicate with families.
• Collaborate with related service staff and educators.

Responsibilities

• Teach body awareness, directionality, and environmental concepts.
• Instruct in cane skills, street crossing, and public transport use.
• Create short- and long-term goals and monitor progress.
• Schedule and coordinate O&M services to minimize disruptions.
• Participate in meetings and provide staff training when needed.
