Job summary

The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix invites talented academic scientists to apply for the Assistant Research Professor, Internal Medicine (Career-Track) (PhD) position. The successful candidate will spend 90% of their time in research related activities, including collaborative team-based science and directing tissue procurement efforts to support organoid- based projects.

Active scholarly work, teaching and service are expected, with eligibility for appointment at the rank

Qualifications

Hold a PhD in related field from an accredited institution.
Post-doctoral training and/or experience commensurate with appointment at the rank of assistant professor.
Demonstrates scholarly accomplishment in research.

Responsibilities

Direct tissue procurement effort for the Department.
Develop processes, procedures and a collaborative research program in the field of 3D organoid biology.
Expand collaborative efforts with the University of Arizona biomedical scientists and physician scientists in the development of organoids relevant to cancer, lung disease, and liver disease.
Develop human precision cut lung and liver slice model systems.
Perform tissue histology, staining, and quantification.
Organize tissue bank collection of FPPE, fresh frozen, and organoid samples.
Participate in training of students and technicians.
Participate as a productive member of the Department and the College through scholarly work and good citizenship.
Additional duties as assigned.
