Job summary

LifeGift is seeking a Referral Clinical Specialist in Lubbock, Texas to respond to referring hospitals, gather medical and social histories, and assess donation potential. The role requires travel to hospital partners and 12-hour shift availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or clinical healthcare certification/licensure (e.g., EMT, Paramedic, RN, RT) or clinically equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 6 months healthcare or allied health experience preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 6 months of employment; must maintain during employment.

Responsibilities

• Responds promptly to referring hospitals to gather information on donation potential.
• Establishes initial dialogue with hospital clinical team to discuss referrals and collaboration.
• Facilitates donation opportunities by keeping hospital staff informed on plans and progression of referrals.
• Identifies family dynamics, authorization parties, language needs and other pertinent information.
• Collaborates with LifeGift organ team to manage active referrals and follow-ups onsite or by phone.
• Manages donor case material from referral through specimen collection and ABO/infectious disease testing within 6–9 months or sooner.
• Performs donor case startup activities including verification of brain death documentation and initial notifications within 12–18 months or sooner.
