Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation is seeking an Ord nance Engineer to own energetic devices on the vehicle and manage ground handling, storage, and safety for initiators and trains. You will run trades, specify hardware, and qualify components before field deployment.

This first-hire role requires collaboration with Flight Safety and Range Safety leads, with accountability for safety, compliance, and successful space operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical, or electrical engineering.
  • 5–10 years of ordnance, pyrotechnics, or energetic systems on launch vehicles or spacecraft.
  • Hands-on experience taking an ordnance device through qualification.
  • Familiarity with hazard classification and explosives safety regimes.

Responsibilities

  • Define the ordnance architecture for the vehicle and select hardware.
  • Own initiation chain physics: no-fire, all-fire current, margins, and reliability.
  • Manage environmental and susceptibility cases per MIL-STD-464 and related standards.
  • Lead qualification campaigns at component, subsystem, and full-system levels.
  • Own hazard classification, explosive quantities, and the site planning compliance.
  • Coordinate storage, magazine licensing, and compliance with ATF, DOT, and DESR.
