Job summary

Cowboy Space Corporation is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to own a critical vehicle mechanism subsystem from concept through flight. You will collaborate across propulsion, structures, avionics, GNC, and launch operations to design, build, and validate integrated systems, moving quickly, iterating often, and taking full ownership to ensure mission success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years designing mechanisms for flight vehicles.
  • Experience taking hardware from concept to test.
  • Strong fundamentals in structural mechanics and materials.
  • Proficient with CAD tools and ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
  • Proficient with FEA tools for dynamic problems.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible for ITAR work authorization.

Responsibilities

  • Own your mechanism subsystem from concept to flight.
  • Drive structural and kinematic design for minimal mass.
  • Balance performance, manufacturability, cost, and schedule.
  • Perform hand calculations, FEA, and tolerance analyses.
  • Define and execute qualification test campaigns.
  • Develop drawings, models, and release documentation.
  • Work on the factory floor with manufacturing.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, perform root cause analysis, implement fixes.
  • Support launch operations and post-flight refurbishment.
