Job summary

State College Borough is seeking a Part-Time Ordinance Enforcement Officer to enforce Borough ordinances on property maintenance, sidewalks, refuse, dogs, and housing concerns. The role is 5 hours per day at State College Municipal Building, with schedule adjustments through late fall and special events.

Starting hourly rate is $22.00; benefits are shared 50/50 including health, dental, vision, plus part-time paid vacation, holidays and sick time.

Qualifications

• Experience enforcing local ordinances or similar regulatory rules.
• Must have valid PA driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
• Preferred background in health and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Enforce Borough ordinances on property maintenance, sidewalks, refuse, dogs, and housing complaints.
• Assist in enforcing Borough public health and safety regulations under limited supervision.

Title: Part-Time Ordinance Enforcement Officer (5 hours per day)

Location: State College Municipal Building

Starting Hourly Rate: $22.00

Work Schedule for position:

• Mid August - Thanksgiving is Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday - 5 hour days. Hours are 8AM - 1PM
• Thanksgiving - Mid August is Monday - Thursday - 5 hour days (Exception: there may be a few weekends that will be incorporated into the schedule at the end of April and beginning of May and Arts Fest Weekend) Hours are 8AM - 1PM.

Position includes 50/50 shared cost in Benefits (Health, Dental, Vision) and part-time paid vacation, holidays, sick time.

REQUIREMENTS:

The Ordinance Enforcement Officer is responsible for enforcing Borough ordinances regarding property maintenance, sidewalks, refuse, dogs, and housing complaints. Assists in the enforcement of Borough public health and safety regulations. Work is performed under minimal supervision with some latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or GED; supplemented by one or more years of ordinance enforcement experience; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
• Must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Food Sanitation Training Certification

E.O.E.
