Job summary

Surge in Joliet, IL is seeking an Order Selector to accurately pick, stage, ship and receive products in line with company standards.

You will operate a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack, perform inspections, load/unload freight, and ensure safety, cleanliness, and inventory accuracy. This role may require nights, weekends, and extended hours as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack.
• Ability to obtain NFI certification for electric pallet jack/walkie rider.
• Physical ability to lift 10–50 lbs and stand for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Operate Pallet Walkie Rider safely and efficiently with safety procedures.
• Complete required pre-operation equipment inspections.
• Load/unload freight, move products to storage areas.
• Pick customer orders and assemble merchandise for shipment.
• Process orders, wrap pallets, and complete shipment confirmations.
• Verify freight accuracy and inspect for damage or infestation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Location: Joliet, IL
Pay:

• Day Shift: $19.19/hour
• Overnight Shift: $20.19/hour

Schedules:

• Days: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Overnights: Monday–Friday, 4:00PM–12:30AM

Job Summary

The Order Selector is responsible for accurately selecting, staging, shipping, and receiving products in accordance with company standards. This role supports efficient warehouse operations by maintaining accuracy, meeting productivity expectations, and following all established safety procedures.

Previous Pallet Walkie Rider experience is required for this position.

• Operate a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack safely and efficiently while following established work practices and safety procedures.
• Complete and document required pre-operation equipment inspections.
• Load and unload freight in an efficient, accurate, and safe manner.
• Move products to designated storage areas using appropriate material-handling equipment.
• Stack and store merchandise in assigned locations.
• Pick customer orders and assemble various types of merchandise for shipment.
• Process orders, including picking, checking, sorting, consolidating freight, wrapping pallets, packing, loading, and completing shipment confirmations.
• Verify freight accuracy and inspect products for damage or infestation.
• Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.
• Perform sanitation duties as assigned.
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the role and determined by management.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Previous Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack experience is required.
• Must be able to safely operate a Pallet Walkie Rider in a warehouse environment.
• Must be able to obtain NFI certification on the electric pallet jack/walkie rider.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 6 months of Pallet Walkie Rider and/or warehouse material-handling equipment experience preferred; Pallet Walkie Rider experience is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, up to 10–12 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 10–50 lbs. as required by business needs.
• Frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching above and at shoulder level.
• Ability to work in environments with variable conditions, including noise levels, lighting, and temperature fluctuations.
• Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.
