Job summary

SURGE Staffing in Joliet, IL is seeking an Order Selector to accurately pick, stage, ship, and receive products in a fast-paced warehouse. You will operate a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack, perform pre-operation inspections, and move freight to designated storage areas.

This role requires prior Pallet Walkie Rider experience, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and flexibility for days or overnights, including weekends/holidays. Pay ranges $19.19–$20.19 per hour depending on shift.

Qualifications

• Previous Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack experience is required.
• Must be able to obtain NFI certification on the electric pallet jack/walkie rider.
• At least 6 months of Pallet Walkie Rider and/or warehouse material-handling equipment experience preferred; Pallet Walkie Rider experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload freight and move products using equipment.
• Pick customer orders and assemble merchandise for shipment.
• Process orders, including picking, sorting, consolidating freight, wrapping pallets, packing, loading, and shipment confirmations.
• Verify freight accuracy and inspect products for damage or infestation.
• Assist with inventories and cycle counts as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; perform sanitation duties.
• Follow all warehouse safety procedures and company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Overnight Shift: $20.19/hour

Schedules:

• Days: Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–3:30 PM
• Overnights: Monday–Friday, 4:00PM–12:30AM

Job Summary

The Order Selector is responsible for accurately selecting, staging, shipping, and receiving products in accordance with company standards. This role supports efficient warehouse operations by maintaining accuracy, meeting productivity expectations, and following all established safety procedures.

Previous Pallet Walkie Rider experience is required for this position.

• Operate a Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack safely and efficiently while following established work practices and safety procedures.
• Complete and document required pre-operation equipment inspections.
• Load and unload freight in an efficient, accurate, and safe manner.
• Move products to designated storage areas using appropriate material-handling equipment.
• Stack and store merchandise in assigned locations.
• Pick customer orders and assemble various types of merchandise for shipment.
• Process orders, including picking, checking, sorting, consolidating freight, wrapping pallets, packing, loading, and completing shipment confirmations.
• Verify freight accuracy and inspect products for damage or infestation.
• Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts as needed.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Previous Pallet Walkie Rider/electric pallet jack experience is required.
• Must be able to safely operate a Pallet Walkie Rider in a warehouse environment.
• Must be able to obtain NFI certification on the electric pallet jack/walkie rider.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least 6 months of Pallet Walkie Rider and/or warehouse material-handling equipment experience preferred; Pallet Walkie Rider experience is required.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods, up to 10–12 hours per shift.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull 10–50 lbs. as required by business needs.
• Frequent bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching above and at shoulder level.
• Ability to work in environments with variable conditions, including noise levels, lighting, and temperature fluctuations.
• Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required by business needs.
