Job description

Primary Tasks

The primary function of this position is to select cases, bags, and other containers of refrigerated foods (meat, dairy, produce) to fill customer orders from multi-level rack storage systems. Items are placed on pallets, and completed orders are moved to the loading dock staging area with an electric Power Jack, wrapped, labeled, and readied for shipment.

Essential Functions

1. Review work schedule, obtain Vox audio communication system, tools, and supplies required to perform the work, and prepare for operations.
2. Perform a safety check on Power Jack / Forklift to be used and ensure that all other safety devices are functioning properly.
3. Place pallets on Forklift / Power Jack and operate along assigned multi-level racks to locate products according to order sheets or Vox Audio Communication System (where available).
4. Manually place the appropriate stock items on pallets from 1st and 2nd level racks as required.
5. Transport completed palletized customer orders to the shipping dock staging area.
6. Ensure count accuracy, record counts on appropriate forms, and visually inspect for damaged products.
7. Hand wrap completed pallets/customer orders, label, and prepare the order for shipment.
8. Rotate date-sensitive stock, keep work areas clear and clean, and complete work sheets/documentation as required.
9. Remove empty pallets, cardboard packing, and strapping to the proper area or receptacles.
10. Inspect empty pallets for damage, and stack/move pallets with Power Jack or Forklift to the proper storage area.
11. Rotate between selecting orders and loading trailers as assigned.
12. Perform general housekeeping duties to keep warehouse areas, loading docks, and trailers clean and organized.
13. Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries, or attach re-charger, and complete vehicle inspection checklists.
14. Perform other similar duties as requested or assigned by supervisor.
15. At the end of the shift, secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
