Four Star Seafood in Monterey Park is seeking a dedicated Order Picker to join our warehouse team. You will assist in packing and filling orders accurately for daily shipments, while maintaining product quality and adherence to safety protocols.

This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, and working in a cold/freezing environment. We offer competitive pay from $19.00 to $23.00 per hour plus benefits and fresh seafood products at cost.

Job description

Four Star Seafood is a leading provider of fresh, high-quality seafood to restaurants, chefs, and consumers in the Los Angeles Area. We are seeking a dedicated and detail-orientated Order Picker to join our Warehouse Team. You will be responsible for assisting in the efficient flow of merchandise by packing and filling orders in an accurate and safe manner while monitoring and ensuring product accuracy and quality.

As part of the selection process, you will manually stack products, wrap, and prepare products for shipment. Order Pickers are also responsible for operating pallet jacks, managing inventory and ensuring that products are properly stored and shipped.

Responsibilities

• Pick, pack, and accurately label products according to system orders (item #, lot #, quantity).
• Prepare and package customer orders with proper labeling to process daily shipments accurately and on time.
• Generate and affix labels to streamline inventory, shipping, and update inventory records.
• Select appropriate packaging materials for safe shipment.
• Communicate with team members and assist in resolving order issues.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and meet delivery timelines.
• Maintain an organized inventory system using a Warehouse Management System to track stock levels and locations.
• Assist in loading and unloading trucks, ensuring that all materials are handled according to safety protocols.
• Safely operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move materials safely within the warehouse.
• Comply with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and all company policies and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
• Assist with the activities of the warehouse and partner with all staff to effectively support inbound and outbound operations.
• Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
• Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and safety.
• Report any issues, concerns, or discrepancies to managers immediately.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in materials handling or warehouse operations.
• Previous experience working with seafood or perishables in a warehouse setting is preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts and pallet jacks.
• Ability to work in cold/freezing conditions.
• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks throughout the shift.
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety practices in a warehouse setting.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
• Good communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors effectively.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 lbs. onto waist-high shelves.
• Frequent bending at waist/knees.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers.
• Exposure to a multi-temp, food production environment.
• Required to work in refrigerated and frozen environments, near noisy machinery, and confined spaces as part of daily production activities.

Work Hours and Availability

These positions are based out of the Monterey Park location. Four Star Seafood is hiring for both part-time and full-time positions:

• Full-time Position hours: 3:30am – 12:00pm
• Part-time Position hours: 3:30am – 8:30am

Hours are approximate and based on business needs; some flexibility is required. Availability to work weekends and holidays is required.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay scale for this position is $19.00 – $23.00 per hour. Employee benefits are available for all qualifying full-time employees, including paid time off, medical, vision, and dental insurance. In addition, employees receive fresh seafood products and company merchandise at cost plus 10%.
