Job summary

Ryerson is seeking an Order Assembler to join our team in Missouri. You will help keep the work area safe and productive, and you may fill in for absent positions as needed on a daily basis to maintain workflow.

The role includes assembling material per orders, selecting material by heat and condition, weighing and recording data, unloading and stocking, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Training through a registered apprenticeship program begins on onboarding.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspections, and attention to detail.
• Certified forklift experience preferred.
• Crane experience preferred (sheet lifter, chains, slings, hoists, or hooks).
• Experience with hand tools for banding and packaging material.

Responsibilities

• Assemble material for shipment or machines per orders and specifications.
• Select material from heats or for physical condition per orders.
• Record heat numbers, weights, and other data on orders.
• Unload, receive material, and place into stock areas.
• Maintain safety, quality and productivity standards.

As an Order Assembler at Ryerson, you will be responsible for keeping the work area safe and productive. Fill in for absent positions as qualified, excluding maintenance, as needed on a daily basis.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Assemble material for shipment or machines in accordance with specifications and instructions on orders
• Select material from specific heats or for physical condition in accordance with instructions on orders
• Count, weigh, record heat or test numbers or symbols, list random lengths and other necessary information on orders as required
• Unload and receive material, weights, counts, check sizes. Identify by color and heat or test numbers. Place into stock rack or designated areas. Record necessary information on receiving tickets or other documents
• Perform tallying, stamping, sorting and re-oiling as required
• Maintain safety, quality and productivity standards of each job assignment

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment - evaluates your reading, math, inspections & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
• Certified fork truck experience preferred
• Crane experience preferred (sheet lifter, chains, slings, hoists, or hooks)
• Experience with hand tools for banding and packaging material
• SAP experience preferred
• Understand work order packaging specifications
• Successful candidates will be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of their onboarding
