Job summary

Concordia College seeks a Director of Orchestral Activities for a full-time, tenure-track appointment beginning August 2027. The successful candidate leads the Concordia Orchestra, collaborates with choral ensembles, plans tours, and coordinates with staff on logistics and recruitment efforts.

Responsibilities include teaching in ensembles and courses as needed, engaging with K-12 connections, and expanding repertoire to reflect diverse traditions within a liberal arts setting.

Qualifications

• Earned master’s degree in music or related field.
• Demonstrated dynamic leadership in classroom, rehearsal and performance settings.
• Preferred: DMA or Ph.D. with tenure eligibility; demonstrated recruiting ability.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Concordia Orchestra: programming, rehearsing and performing.
• Collaborate with Concordia choral ensembles and instrumental faculty.
• Coordinate with staff for performances and tours, including international/domestic travel.
• Organize the annual student concerto competition.
• Teach in ensemble and classroom settings; contribute to the liberal arts environment.
