Job summary

San Diego Symphony is seeking an Orchestra Operations Coordinator to support the musicians and administrative staff in ensuring seamless orchestra operations under the Master Agreement.

The role involves managing national and local auditions, coordinating rehearsals and concerts, and assisting with payroll, contracts, and travel logistics. This is an early-career position designed for growth within a dynamic orchestral environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in related field or arts administration preferred.
• Experience in the arts or orchestral settings is beneficial.
• Familiarity with rehearsals, concerts, and stage protocol is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain friendly environment and open communication between musicians and management.
• Manage rehearsals, concerts, timekeeping, and working conditions for musicians.
• Ensure activities comply with negotiated Master Agreement and address labor issues when needed.
• Serve as liaison among musicians, guest artists, conductors, and staff.
• Prepare and distribute concert information to musicians for programs.
• Assist in hiring substitute musicians and handling I-9s and W-4s in a timely manner.
• Coordinate audition processes including scheduling, advertising, and registration.
• Assist with musician payroll, payments, and instrument insurance.
• Coordinate travel and transportation for the orchestra as required.
• Hire musicians for small ensembles and collaborate with other departments.
• Support tasks including contracts, communications, and research initiatives.
• Provide administrative support to the Master Agreement negotiations.
